Nifty Thrifting: Bath and Body Works

I'm starting a new label with this post called Nifty Thrifting!  Now I'm not the most serious or dedicated thrifter you'll ever meet but I like to think that when I want to, I can be pretty good at getting my money's worth.  I, for one, find frugality a fun challenge and hopefully I can give you some easy and enjoyable ideas on how to save money as well!

Bath and Body Works
Not to give them free advertising, but I do appreciate a good sale and bbw just happens to come out with some good ones from time to time.  Apart from saving a boatload of money at this most recent sale (off of original prices, mind you) I found a few ways to get yet even more bang for my buck from the company.

P.S. Also, check out the retail me not app and website.  They've got tons of promotions that allow you to get all kinds of good deals with the mere copy and paste of a coupon code (or flash of the phone screen).
When I placed this order online, I got 20% off my entire order, just for putting in a code. That balanced out to free shipping and still more money knocked off of my total.
On a different, in-store trip, on top of straight up great prices for the bbw semi-annual sale, I got $10 off of $30 with a coupon from the retailmenot app on my phone.  Even though the coupon I had was for their website, the saleswoman honored it and I got 10 whole dollars off, just like that!

Remember: there is almost always a coupon you could be using (without even having to go much out of your way) to save yourself some sweet moolah (I may or may not have re-watched Napoleon Dynamite yesterday).

Anyways, on to my story of milking this order for all it was worth. . .

So when you order something from bbw.com, it comes in a box that looks boring and normal on the outside. . .
. . . But kinda cool on the inside.

So I taped down the flaps so the sides would look fancy too.

And now it serves me well as a cute movie storage case, although it could store a great deal many other kinds of things as well.

Online orders also come with a lot of brown paper (I think for padding) and I didn't want to waste it all (eco-conscious fanatics, you can thank me now :P).
So I decided to take some yarn and pre-wrap the products I had ordered as gifts .

If you've ever had someone else's birthday sneak up on you, you know that it's pretty handy to have ready-to-go gifts.  Viola!
Oh yeah, and then I stored them in a BBW bag I already had.  And felt pretty good about having not wasted or thrown much away from this order.

Remember: Don't forget to label the wrapped gifts though or else you might end up giving someone a gift that surprises even you!

Post Prompts I

I googled blog post prompts just for fun and found a website with a whole bunch.  Rather than writing whole posts on some of the topics, I decided to do interview style responses. Write about the first time you broke the law. When I was 4, stole a handful of grass seed from a store. Felt awful but never admitted to it untill way later. They knew I was lying but never prosecuted (is it even possible to prosecute a 4 year old?).  I discarded the evidence onto their lawn as soon as I got out of the store (I guess that was sort of smart).  Why grass seed? Good question.  Your favorite vacation spot or place that you've traveled to. An Island in Malaysia called Redang. Everything about that place looked like those tropical photos you secretly doubt the existence of.  Straight up B-E-A-U-tiful. Write about the passing of a loved one. My Grandma died 2 years ago on the 4th of July (ironic, don't you think?).  For me, the whole experience wa...

How do you feel about that?

Like I got hit by a truck.  Like a cement block got dropped on my entire body.  Like the wind was knocked out of me.  Like a deer in the headlights.  Like I got slapped and at first it was numb and now it stings. But. . . "In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."   1 Peter 1:6-7 It's worth it.

From desiringGod Blog

From a blog I follow called  desiringGod .  The whole website is full of truth.  I encourage you to check it out.  I've enlarged and boldened sentences I think are especially well said.   Not Your Mother's Kind of Tolerance by Jonathan Parnell | August 2, 2012   Views that advocate same-sex marriage are free to exist, but they are wrong. Now, stop. Read the above sentence again. Are you okay with it? Chances are how you feel about that statement indicates your understanding (or misunderstanding) of tolerance. D. A. Carson, in his book, The Intolerance of Tolerance , explains that Western culture isn't exactly firing on all cylinders when it comes to knowing what tolerance is. He distinguishes two different concepts of this word: old tolerance and new tolerance. Old tolerance — that is, before the onslaught of postmodernism — defines the concept as to "accept the existence of different views." New tolerance, however, defines tolerance ...
