So, it's been a while since I've written, let alone written anything about my life. We could take the traditional route where I categorize each thing and give you and update on them in an organized fashion, but I think it would be better if I just told you as if I had just seen you after a long time and you asked me what's going on for me. That means it will be pretty surfacey for now, but maybe we'll get to the deeper stuff later. So, on with it.
I'm doing pretty well.
I'm engaged.
September 12th.
Yes, this year.
Yeah everything is coming together pretty well and I'm so blessed by how many things came together so easily-especially in the beginning, but my mom and I sat down this morning to talk about all the things that still have to happen and it was a little overwhelming, so I'm trying to get my butt into gear a little bit more.
Yep, I'm working. I actually work as a freelance makeup artist and skincare specialist for a couple of makeup brands at the Ultas and Von Maur in my city. I really enjoy it. I've had a bunch more hours lately so it's been teaching (or forcing) me to be a much better time manager, which I needed. But even having the chance to work more hours is an answer to prayer so I'm glad for them. Plus, I really enjoy my job a lot (most of the time). I get to be artistic and it can be very fulfilling. To be able to help people find solutions to things like birthmarks or scars and hear that I've made their day is more fultilling than I expected it could be, and that has honestly been an amazing aspect of my job. No, it's not always a lasting change I'm making, but being able to make someone's day is definitely a privilege I'm truly thankful for.
No, I'm not taking classes. I took some this spring, but I decided not to take summer classes, and if I did take a fall class, it would start a few weeks before our wedding and since I didn't want to have to take a week off of classes for our honeymoon, and because the fall and winter is the busiest season for my job, I decided to just wait until next spring to take more. But since I'm going for Graphic Design and Visual Communications, it's not as high of a priority that you have a degree, per se, because people care more about your skills, portfolio, and work ethic, so I'm hoping to start building those and to gain experience at least in the time until I start classes again.
So there it is. The scoop about the small-talk parts of my life, at least for now.
Thanks for making it this far.
Peace.
